Kayla Hardimon 



Miss Black Ohio USA 2012 Kayla Hardimon is a 20-year-old Junior at Ohio University, majoring in Broadcast Journalism with a focus in Political Science. A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Kayla is involved in many organizations at Ohio University. She serves as the Vice-Commissioner for Black Affairs in the Ohio University Student Senate, appointed member to the Ohio University Judicial Hearing Board and a member of the General Fee Advisory Committee. She is also an active member of Phi Sigma Pi Honors Fraternity and Ohio University College Democrats.

Kayla works hard to achieve academic greatness as well. She has been recognized on the Scripps School of Journalism Dean’s List four times reaching a 3.608 GPA. This young lady strives each and everyday to give everything she does her best.

Along with classes and extracurricular activities Kayla takes pride in her position as a Peer Advisor to multicultural freshmen on Ohio University’s campus.  Kayla sees working as a Peer Advisor as the first step in her dream to motivate and encourage young women around the world. She has a desire to help young women understand their worth and take away the false images of beauty and “perfection” that the world has and show each woman the splendor and strength that is within them. Kayla believes that Miss Black USA is not about the beauty of the contestants, but the magnificence of women. As Miss Black Ohio USA 2012, Kayla advocates and educates her constituents about “A Woman’s Worth” raising awareness and support for projects such as The Girl Effect and Black Girls Rock.

Kayla’s ultimate goal is for no young woman to ever wonder if she’s beautiful, to ever question her worth or her intelligence. Kayla promises to fight back and to make the world know, “A Woman’s Worth,” is more than anyone could ever imagine.
